Plastic from tea bags isn’t the only thing to be looking out for in YOUR morning cuppa

Recent news items have highlighted the problem of the thousands of tiny particles of plastic that are released in your morning cuppa from some teabags.

But that’s not the only source of plastic inside your brew it has been revealed by eco brothers Adrian and Neil Balcombe. Adrian and Neil Balcombe run Single Use Alternatives; a business aimed at helping cafe owners, takeaway outlets and caterers avoid plastics, save money and save the world at the same time!

“What most people still don’t realise, is that the cup of tea that they buy from their local takeaway to drink on the way to work is a cardboard cup with a plastic liner!” says Adrian. “You may think that you’re going down the eco-friendly route by using what looks like a cardboard drinks container when you buy your morning cuppa from one of the big outlets, but beware – there’s plastic lurking in your cup, and it’s going to take 100’s of years to decompose in the natural environment.”

“We supply a range of biodegradable and compostable products which won’t end up sitting in a landfill for decades or clogging our seas. Single use plastics have become a scourge on our planet, and we’re determined to make a change.” Adrian went on to say, “Our aim is to educate people about the 12 million tonnes of plastic entering our oceans each year, and to help consumers take up arms against this non-reusable, non-recyclable modern menace.”

So the next time you read a headline about thousands of tiny particles of plastic being released into your cuppa in the morning, spare a thought for what you’re drinking it from, and how you might change that from now on.
