Compostable or biodegradable - how our products should be recycled

Some of our products look almost identical to plastic but it’s important to remember that they shouldn’t be recycled with other plastic recycling waste. Our products are clearly labelled so you’ll know how to recycle them, and whether they’re suitable for recycling in your local area. At present not all local councils offer the same facilities and we’re working with suppliers and local authorities to close the loop to ensure integrated waste management is available nationwide.

Biodegradable takeaway packaging should be recycled in special industrial scale composters if they are to fully biodegrade in a timely manner. Not all local authorities have the capability to do this so you’ll need to check the situation in your local area.

Compostable products can either be composted at home or in a special industrial scale composter by your local council. It might also be possible to dispose of compostable items with your food waste, however this is also something you’ll need to check with your local council. The home composting process can take longer as it depends on the method you use and conditions.
