Why Single Use Alternatives?
When you consider that a large proportion of plastic is manufactured for just one single use before being thrown away, and that the majority of plastic ever produced still exists in some form, something has to change. However, we understand that disposable plastics offer a convenient and cost effective way for takeaway and catering businesses to serve food. It is our aim to provide catering businesses with sustainable, affordable and practical alternatives to single use disposables, helping you to ‘Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle’.
Our products can be similar in price to their plastic equivalents and include everything you need to run your takeaway or catering business, or for entertaining at home. From biodegradable takeaway boxes and deli pots, through to pizza boxes, chip forks and food wrap, our products are cost-effective, durable and 100% plastic free.
Ordering from us is easy and we have a secure, user-friendly, mobile-friendly website. There’s no minimum order so you can order in realistic quantities; whether you need 100s or 1000s of a particular product. A range of low-cost delivery options are available, including next day delivery if required. Last and by no means least, we also offer discounts on bulk orders.
How our products should be recycled
It’s our aim to provide sustainable, practical alternatives to the single use plastic products widely used in the catering industry, helping to reduce the amount of plastic waste which currently goes into landfill. However, it’s important to be aware that not all plastics are made in the same way. New, innovative products are continually coming to market, with many different options for recycling them. To complicate things further, UK local authorities have slightly different approaches to the way they collect and recycle these products.
We’re working hard to close this loop and are currently collaborating with a number of parties to help develop an integrated waste management strategy for our products. In addition, we have partnered up with local recycling businesses who are able to offer commercial waste collection services, providing a solution in areas where local authorities cannot help.
Our products are either compostable or biodegradable which means that they shouldn’t be disposed of with other plastic recycling. Compostable items can be recycled by your local council in an industrial composter or in your compost bin at home. Industrial composting takes under 90 days whilst the process will take longer in a garden compost bin. Biodegradable products are designed to be composted in a special industrial composter, however this facility is not currently offered by all UK local councils.
