Single Use Alternatives was founded by Adrian and Neil; two brothers who are passionate about enjoying the outdoors and caring for the environment. Concerned about the impact single use plastics are having upon the environment, we decided to offer a range of cost effective high quality, alternative products.

How to dispose of our products
As our products are made from plants and not plastic, they mustn’t be disposed of with other plastic recycling waste. Instead, our products are either compostable or biodegradable. Our compostable products are certified compostable, which means that they will break down in less than 90 days under industrial composting conditions. These products can be disposed of with food waste, but check locally for compostable collections. Alternatively, compostable items can also be home composted but the process will take longer than 90 days, depending on conditions and the type of composter you use.
Although all materials are technically biodegradable, plastic can take up to 1000 years to fully degrade in landfill. Our biodegradable products take much less time than this to degrade. However, much like composting, the biodegrading process needs oxygen. As a result, biodegradable items need special industrial scale composters if they are to fully degrade as quickly as possible. At present, not all local authorities have the capability to do this, so please check locally to find out exactly how these materials are disposed of in your area.
