Currently, many catering businesses rely heavily on single use plastic. Our products are seriously better for the planet than plastic but we also understand that protecting your profits is an important consideration. This is why many of the products we sell are cheaper than their plastic counterparts, whilst being completely natural too. Closing the loop - a simple approach to recyclable food packaging

The planet is literally being swamped by plastic at a rate that is unsustainable. Plastic can take more than 400 years to degrade and it’s extremely concerning to think that most of the plastic that’s ever been produced still exists in some form. Bearing in mind that significant amounts of plastic is produced for just one single use before being discarded, something has to change.

We understand that that not only is there a lack of knowledge about the different ways local authorities approach recycling, but that suitable alternative products are often expensive and difficult to source. It is our aim to change this situation, helping you to make small changes which, in turn, will make a positive difference.

We offer an affordable supply of alternative products, with clear information on how they should be processed once they’ve been used. Our products can be recycled in the following ways:

• Compostable: composting is a fully organic process which can be done in your compost bin at home or in a local authority industrial scale composter. Because our compostable products are certified compostable, they will break down within 90 days in industrial composting conditions. However the process will take longer in a home composting environment.
• Biodegradable: when disposed of in landfill, plastic take can take 1000 years to fully biodegrade. Our biodegradable products will take a tiny fraction of this time. Biodegrading is similar to composting in that it requires oxygen. This means that these items should be processed in a special industrial scale composter. Bear in mind that not every local authority has the facility to do this so you’ll need to check the situation in your area.
• Recyclable: we do not currently stock any recyclable products. Although recyclable materials can be recycled by your local authority in the standard way; they have to be sorted, shredded, washed, melted into pellets and then made into new products. These new plastic products can be made from oil-based or fossil-based materials but this does not mean that they are biodegradable. Only non-biodegradable materials are currently suitable for recycling.
