How our products should be recycled
Although many of our products look and feel like plastic they shouldn’t be mixed with other plastic recycling as this can impact upon the recycling process. The products we sell are either compostable or biodegradable and are clearly labelled so you’ll know how to recycle them once they’re no longer needed. Here are ten reasons why we think compostables are better.
Compostable products can be disposed of in an industrial composting facility where the process will take around 90 days. It is also possible to compost them at home although the process will take longer and depends on the method used and conditions. Biodegradable products can also be disposed of in an industrial composter, however at present not all local councils offer the facility to do this so please check the situation in your local area.
Our mission
Thanks to increased public awareness of plastic pollution we know that something has to change. Viable alternatives to single use alternatives are widely available but they are deemed expensive. In addition, the range of new plastics and alternatives to plastic can be confusing, a problem which is further compounded by variations in local authority recycling facilities.
We know that people want to buy alternatives to plastics but have problems sourcing them and are reluctant to pay a premium. This is completely understandable and is the reason why we started Single Use Alternatives.
