Why go plastic free?

The problem of plastic pollution is rarely out of the news, with the damage plastic waste causes to the environment highlighted on an almost daily basis. So the pressure is on to reduce our reliance upon single use plastic products. However, we understand that for many catering businesses, a supply of cheap disposable plastic items is vital. Plastic-free alternatives are available, but they tend to cost more and can be difficult and time-consuming to source.

It is our aim to provide realistic alternatives to plastics and our range includes everything from disposable cups for cold drinks, paper cups, and coffee cups, through to reusable cups. The difference is that our products can be comparable in cost to their plastic counterparts, available for convenient delivery direct to your business or home address.

Our product range

We don’t just sell plastic cup alternatives and you’ll find our product range includes everything you need to run your catering business, coffee shop, takeaway or for entertaining at home. Our range of plastic-free products includes food packaging such as pizza boxes, wrap and alternatives to plastic bags, along with disposable cutlery, shopping bags and tableware.

Although many of our products look very similar to plastic they mustn’t be recycled with other plastic waste. Our products are either compostable or biodegradable: compostable products are suitable for recycling by your local council in a special industrial composter, or in your home compost bin. Please note that composting at home takes longer as it depends on the method you use and conditions. Biodegradable products can be recycled in special industrial composting facilities but this service isn’t available in all areas of the UK.

Closing the loop

Unfortunately, at present there are regional variations in the recycling schemes available. We believe that this is yet another barrier which prevents people from making the switch to plastic alternatives. With this in mind, we are currently working with suppliers and local councils with the aim of creating a solution.
