Who we are
Single Use Alternatives was founded by Adrian and Neil; two brothers who are passionate about enjoying the outdoors and caring for the environment. Concerned about the impact single use plastics are having upon the environment, we decided to offer a range of cost effective high quality, alternative products.

Our range of environmentally friendly takeaway containers
From takeaway containers for hot foods such as pizzas, fish and chips or curries, through to salad bowls, sandwich cartons and ice cream pots, our eco friendly product range is perfect for serving and selling a wide range of food items. In addition, we also supply many different cups including paper cups for coffee and hot drinks, cold cups, lids, straws and stirrers. Just as durable as their plastic counterparts, our products are instead made from plant based materials to ensure they have a minimal impact upon the environment.
We believe that making sustainable choices should not only be cost effective, the products should also be convenient to buy. How to recycle compostable or biodegradable food packaging
Although many of the products we supply might look as though they are made from plastic, they are completely plastic-free and should not be recycled with other plastic waste. Our products are compostable or biodegradable and must be recycled in the following ways:
- Compostable items should be either collected by your local council for recycling with other food waste, or placed in your compost bin at home where the composting process will take up to approximately 12 months.
- Biodegradable items should be recycled in a special industrial composting facility and this is something which is currently offered by some local councils.
The problem of plastic pollution
Although we know we’re not going to change the world overnight, we believe that by offering a range of affordable, sustainable alternatives to single use plastic catering products, this will add up to a big difference.
Thanks to worldwide publicity, the problems caused by plastic pollution in the environment is something we’re all increasingly aware of.
