Single Use Alternatives was founded by Adrian and Neil; two brothers who are passionate about enjoying the outdoors and caring for the environment. Concerned about the impact single use plastics are having upon the environment, we decided to offer a range of cost effective high quality, alternative products.

We know that for many catering businesses and food suppliers, having a readily-available supply of cheap packaging disposables is essential. Unfortunately though, most of these products are made from harmful, oil-based plastics which can take up to 400 years to fully degrade. To compound the problem, the majority are manufactured for just one use before being thrown away, ending up in landfill or as plastic pollution in the environment.
It’s clear that we need to change our ways, however most of the alternatives to plastics disposables have historically cost more, and can be difficult to source in realistic quantities. We aim to change this and as a young business, we’re passionate about making it easy and affordable to switch to sustainable alternatives to single use plastics.

You’ll find that our website is user-friendly, mobile first and fully secure, with fuss-free account set up, management and re-ordering. We don’t set a minimum order value, so you’ll be able to order in quantities which are right for you; whether you need 100 eco takeaway containers or 1000s. Last and by no means least, UK-wide delivery is available on all orders, with next day delivery if required.
Catering supplies made from renewable sources
Because our products are made from renewable sources such as sugar cane or corn starch, they mustn’t be disposed of with other plastic recycling waste. Instead, they are either fully compostable or biodegradable.
For compostable items, we recommend that you check locally for compostables collection with yourfood waste. Compostable items are also suitable for home composting, however the process will take longer as the length of time required will depend on the method you use and environmental conditions.
For biodegradable items, these require special industrial composting facilities if they are to fully degrade in a timely manner. This type of facility isn’t available in all areas of the UK yet, so we suggest that you check the situation in your area first.
