Single Use Alternatives was founded by Adrian and Neil; two brothers who are passionate about enjoying the outdoors and caring for the environment. Concerned about the impact single use plastics are having upon the environment, we decided to offer a range of cost effective high quality, alternative products.

Sustainably sourced products made from plants not plastic
We have the UK’s most comprehensive website, dedicated to providing sustainable, practical alternatives to single use plastic catering disposables. From cups for hot and cold drinks, lids and stirrers, through to deli pots, sandwich cartons, takeaway trays, bags, wrap and labels, we have everything you need to serve and sell takeaway food and drinks.
Our products are ideal for packaging a wide range of food and liquids including hot drinks and meals, takeaway food, confectionery, fresh produce, deli items and much more. We have over 400 products made from plants not oil based plastic. Although many of them might look and feel like plastic, they are instead made from renewable plant based materials such as corn starch or sugar cane. As such, they are either 100% fully compostable or biodegradable.
Compostable cups and catering disposables are suitable for collection by your local council with other compostable food waste, check locally. Alternatively, these items can also be placed in your garden compost bin. However, please note that home composting takes longer than industrial composting, with the length of time dependent on environmental conditions and the method you use.
Biodegradable cups and catering disposables must be composted in a special industrial composting facility if they are to fully degrade in a timely manner. At present, this type of composting facility isn’t available in all areas, so please check the situation where you live first.
