Single Use Alternatives was founded by Adrian and Neil; two brothers who are passionate about enjoying the outdoors and caring for the environment. Concerned about the impact single use plastics are having upon the environment, we decided to offer a range of cost effective high quality, alternative products.

Our products are designed for use by catering businesses, takeaways and coffee shops, or for entertaining at home. Our range includes eco friendly takeaway containers for packaging hot foods, pizzas or fish and chips, along with deli pots, salad bowls and sandwich cartons. We also supply an extensive range of ice cream pots, food wrap, bags, cups, straws, lids and stirrers.
We know that cost is an important consideration for our customers and as such you’ll find that our products can be similar in price to their plastic counterparts. In addition, we also offer a choice of cost-effective delivery options, including next day delivery. After all, if eco friendly takeaway packaging is expensive and difficult to buy, we’re less likely to make the switch to sustainable alternatives to plastics.
The 5 R’s of recycling
Thanks to increasing awareness of the impact that plastic pollution is having upon the environment, more of us are following the 5 R’s of recycling: refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose and recycle. Our product range can help you do this by offering a convenient range of practical, affordable plastic-free food packaging products.
All of our products are completely free from plastic and although some might look very similar to plastic items you’ve used before, ours are made from plant-based materials. This means that they should not be recycled with other plastic recycling waste.
Our products are either compostable or biodegradable and are clearly labelled so you, and your customers, will know how to dispose of them after use. Compostable products can either be recycled in your compost bin at home where the process will take around 12 months, or by your local council with other compostable food waste. Local councils use industrial composting facilities where the process is much quicker than home composting.
Biodegradable items are suitable for collection by some local councils for recycling in special industrial recycling facilities. However, at present this option isn’t available in all areas so please check the situation where you live first.
