Who we are
Single Use Alternatives was founded by Adrian and Neil; two brothers who are passionate about enjoying the outdoors and caring for the environment. Concerned about the impact single use plastics are having upon the environment, we decided to offer a range of cost effective high quality, alternative products.

Eco friendly straws & our other eco products
We believe that increasing numbers of businesses are looking for ways to reduce their use of single use plastic disposables and their carbon footprint, but are deterred from making the switch because the alternatives available have been historically expensive and difficult to source.
Our products offer something different, with a huge range of cost-effective catering packaging supplies made from plants and not plastic. You’ll find that our products are comparable in cost, with bulk discounts available, so the more you buy, the more you save. We also offer savings of up to 20% on wholesale, with convenient UK-wide delivery, including next day delivery if required. Last and by no means least, because we don’t set a minimum order value, you’ll be able to order in quantities which are right for you: whether you need 100 eco-friendly straws or 1000s.
From paper straws available in a range of sizes, through to cocktail straws, stirrers, spoon straws, smoothie straws and bendy straws, our collection of food safe accessories also includes a huge selection of eco-friendly cups for hot and cold drinks, lids and cup holders. In addition, we also supply a wide choice of food grade containers including packaging for takeaway food, deli items, cakes, confectionery, sandwiches and much more.
Although some of our eco-friendly straws might look as though they are made from plastic, they are all 100% plastic free and are instead made from plant-based materials. As a result, they should not be disposed of with other plastic recycling as they are fully compostable or biodegradable.
Compostable items are suitable for collection by your local council with other compostable food waste (check locally). Alternatively, these items are also suitable for home composting, but it’s important to note that the home composting process takes longer, depending on the method you use and environmental conditions.
Biodegradable items are suitable for collection in areas where there are industrial composting facilities available to process them correctly. At present, not all local councils have this type of composting facility, so please check the situation in your area first. This disparity in recycling facilities is something we are working hard to address by working with partners and local authorities to find a solution and ‘close the loop’.
