Single Use Alternatives was founded by Adrian and Neil; two brothers who are passionate about enjoying the outdoors and caring for the environment. Concerned about the impact single use plastics are having upon the environment, we decided to offer a range of cost effective high quality, alternative products.

We believe that it should be much simpler and more affordable to buy plastic free catering disposables. After all, when the health of the planet is at stake, why should we pay more for products which limit the damage to the environment?
We understand that many catering and events businesses, takeaways, coffee shops, bars and restaurants rely upon a cheap and convenient supply of single use plastic items such as drinking straws, cups and cutlery. Unfortunately, the majority of these items either end up in landfill, or as plastic pollution in the environment. When you consider that plastic can take up to 400 years to fully degrade, it’s clear that we have to change our ways.
This is where we come in, with a range of dedicated products made from plants and not plastic. Designed to provide cost-effective, viable alternatives to the disposable items your business uses everyday, our products are robust, practical and 100% free of climate damaging oil-based plastics.

We don’t set a minimum order value, so you’ll be able to order in quantities which are right for you; whether you need 100 eco-friendly paper drinking straws or 1000s. Eco friendly paper drinking straws made from renewable sources
From paper straws, biodegradable cups, lids and stirrers, through to deli pots, sandwich platters and takeaway trays, our products are ideal for serving and selling a huge range of food and produce.
Although many of our products might look as though they are made from plastic, they are instead made from renewable sources such as corn starch or sugar cane. As a result, they mustn’t be processed with other plastic recycling waste.
The products we supply are either fully compostable or biodegradable. Compostable items such as pizza boxes or produce trays can be included with local food waste collections where available. Alternatively, compostable items are also suitable for home composting but please note that it will take longer for them to fully degrade in a timely manner.
For biodegradable straws, cups and other biodegradable items, these require special industrial composting facilities if they are to fully degrade in a timely manner. At present, this type of facility isn’t available in all areas of the UK, so please check the situation in your local area first.
