Who we are
Single Use Alternatives was founded by Adrian and Neil; two brothers who are passionate about enjoying the outdoors and caring for the environment. Concerned about the impact single use plastics are having upon the environment, we decided to offer a range of cost effective high quality, alternative products.

At Single Use Alternatives it is our aim to provide a wide range of simple, affordable alternatives to plastic food packaging. Our products are cost-effective to buy, with discounts available on bulk orders and savings of up 20% available on wholesale prices. We don’t set a minimum order value so you’ll be able to buy in quantities that are right for you - whether you need 100 cardboard takeaway boxes or 1000s - and our website is fully secure and easy to use.
Our products are made from plant materials and not plastic, including cardboard and renewable alternatives to plastic such as PLA. The products we sell are perfectly designed for selling and serving a wide range of food and drinks in your cafe, coffee shop, takeaway, food stand or events business. From eco-friendly cardboard takeaway boxes, noodle boxes, and sandwich packaging, through to produce trays, burger boxes and ice cream pots, you’ll find our products are durable, attractive and economical to buy.
Because we only supply compostable or biodegradable food packaging, our products mustn’t be disposed of with other plastic recycling waste. Instead, compostable items are suitable for collection by your local council with other compostable food waste (check locally), or for disposal in your compost bin at home. Please note that the home composting process is longer and the length of time required will depend on environmental conditions and the method you use.
Some councils are able to collect biodegradable items for recycling; however as industrial composting facilities are required, and this type of facility isn’t currently available in all areas, we advise you to contact your local council first.
Why make the change?
Plastic has been commercially manufactured since the mid 20th century and since then, around 8 billion tons have been produced. Of this, over 6 billion tons has either become waste in landfill or as plastic pollution in the environment. When you consider that plastic can take over 400 years to fully degrade, something has to be done.
A large proportion of all the plastic manufactured is made from just one single use before being thrown away and unfortunately takeaway packaging falls into this category. However, by making the switch to our plastic-free, affordable alternatives, you’ll be making a big difference to the planet by reducing your carbon footprint, without having a big impact on your pocket.
