Who we are
Single Use Alternatives was founded by Adrian and Neil; two brothers who are passionate about enjoying the outdoors and caring for the environment. Concerned about the impact single use plastics are having upon the environment, we decided to offer a range of cost effective high quality, alternative products.

Affordable alternatives to plastic packaging for food
We offer a dedicated range of food packaging solutions, designed to provide sustainable alternatives to the plastic disposables widely used in takeaways, cafes, catering and events businesses, coffee shops and food stalls. Our products are made from plant based materials and are perfect for serving and packaging a huge range of hot and cold foods, including takeaway meals and drinks, fresh produce, confectionery and deli items.
Unlike products made from oil based plastics, our eco friendly food packaging options are made from plant based materials. As a result they are either fully compostable or biodegradable. For compostable items we suggest you check for compostables collections with local food waste. Alternatively, home compostable items are also suitable for home composting. However, the length of time required for items to fully degrade will depend on the composting method you use and environmental conditions.
Biodegradable items must be composted in special industrial composting facilities. At present, this type of composting facility isn’t available in all areas of the UK, so we recommend you check the situation where you live first.
Our mission
It is our aim to make environmentally friendly food packaging materials as affordable and simple to buy as possible. At present, the vast majority of single use plastic disposables such as drinking straws, end up in landfill or as plastic pollution in the environment. When you consider that plastic can take up to 400 years to fully degrade, we need to change our ways and look for sustainable alternatives.
We understand that although a wide range of eco-friendly packaging products are available, they tend to cost more and are often difficult to buy in realistic quantities. We offer something different with a wide range of sustainable products, designed to help you reduce your carbon footprint, whilst also helping the environment.
To make ordering as simple as possible we don’t set a minimum order value. This means you’ll be able to order in quantities which are right for you; whether you need 100 recycled paper plates or 1000s. Our prices are competitive, with discounts of up to 20% off manufacturer prices. In addition, we’re happy to send out free product samples and offer convenient UK wide delivery, including a next day delivery service.
