Most people involved in the food and catering industries are increasingly aware of the problems caused by plastic pollution. Unfortunately many businesses rely upon a convenient supply of cheap disposable plastic items such as takeaway boxes and cutlery. However, because items such as these can take up to 400 years to fully degrade, with the majority ending up as plastic pollution in the environment, something has to be done.
Alternatives to plastics are available but they often cost more and can be difficult to find and buy in realistic quantities. Our products are easy to recycle and are either compostable or biodegradable. Compostable products should be disposed of with other food waste, to be collected ready for composting by your local council, or in your compost bin at home (this can take up to 12 months in a well managed compost heap). Biodegradable products must be composted in special industrial composting facilities: please note that not all local councils are able to offer this at present so it is important to check the situation where you live first.
