Who we are
Single Use Alternatives was founded by Adrian and Neil; two brothers who are passionate about enjoying the outdoors and caring for the environment. Concerned about the impact single use plastics are having upon the environment, we decided to offer a range of cost effective high quality, alternative products.

Our product range
Our product range is ideal for use in coffee shops, takeaways, the events trade, cafes or for entertaining at home. Our products are all compostable or biodegradable and made from plants, not plastic. Whether you’re looking for double walled coffee cups for hot drinks, paper cups for cold drinks, plates, food boxes, trays or sandwich bags, we have everything you need to serve and sell takeaway items.

Our products are made from sustainably sourced, renewable plant based materials. This means that by choosing our products over those made from plastic, you’ll be doing your bit for the planet by ‘closing the loop’. When items are made from plant based PLA, less greenhouse gases are created and less energy is used in their manufacture. Once they are returned back to enrich the soil through the composting process, fossil fuels are kept in the ground which is an important objective for net zero and mitigating climate change.
How to recycle our products
Although many of our products might look and feel almost exactly like plastic, they mustn’t be disposed of with other plastic recycling. Instead, our products are either fully compostable or biodegradable.
Compostable cups and catering supplies can be recycled either by your local council with other compostable waste, or in your garden compost bin. Please note that it will take longer for items to fully degrade when composted at home, as the length of time the process takes depends on the method you use and conditions.
Biodegradable items should be recycled in one of the special industrial composting facilities used by some UK councils. However, as these facilities aren’t yet available in all parts of the UK, please check the situation where you live first.
