Who we are
Single Use Alternatives was founded by Adrian and Neil; two brothers who are passionate about enjoying the outdoors and caring for the environment. Concerned about the impact single use plastics are having upon the environment, we decided to offer a range of cost effective high quality, alternative products.

Made from plants, not plastic
Our products are either fully biodegradable or compostable and made from plant-based materials instead of oil based plastic. From biodegradable platters and palm leaf plates, through to cups for hot or cold drinks, deli pots and sandwich cartons, our products are practical, durable and sustainable.
We understand that to make it as easy as possible to make the switch from single use plastic disposables, eco friendly alternatives need to be convenient to buy and realistically priced. As such, we don’t set a minimum order value, with products available to order in quantities which are right for you: whether you need 100 biodegradable platters or 1000s.

Catering disposables made from plants, not plastic
Although some of our products might look as though they are made from plastics, they are made from plant-based materials. This means that they mustn’t be disposed of with other plastic recycling waste, but instead are either compostable or biodegradable.
For compostable items, we suggest you check locally for compostables collections in local food waste. Alternatively, compostable items can also be placed in your garden compost bin but please note that it will take longer for them to fully degrade in a timely manner.
For biodegradable items such as our biodegradable food platters, these need to be processed in a special industrial composting facility. At present, this type of facility isn’t available in all areas of the UK so we suggest you check the situation where you live.
Why make the switch?
Plastic can take up to 400 years to fully degrade. When you consider that of the 8 billion tons of plastic that’s ever been produced, the majority is now either in landfill or as pollution in the environment, it’s clear that we need to change our ways. Although choosing eco-friendly catering disposables might seem like a small change to make, the more of us who make the change, the more effective the end result will be.
