We believe that this shouldn’t be the case as after all, why should reducing our reliance on single use plastics be complicated and expensive?
Who we are
Single Use Alternatives was founded by Adrian and Neil; two brothers who are passionate about enjoying the outdoors and caring for the environment. Concerned about the impact single use plastics are having upon the environment, we decided to offer a range of cost effective high quality, alternative products.

We’ve developed as wide a range of products as possible, with options designed for catering, events businesses, cafes and takeaways, or for serving food and drinks at home. You’ll find that our products all have one thing in common: they are completely free from plastic and are instead made from compostable or biodegradable plant based materials.

We have everything you need for serving takeaway food or drinks in your catering businesses, or for use at home. Our range of food containers includes cake boxes, food boxes, deli pots, soup containers, platter trays and much more. We also supply a huge range of cups and lids, including cold cups, alongside food wrap, film, tableware, stickers, gloves, hand towels and waste bags. The products we sell are ideal for packaging hot and cold food, drinks, sandwiches, cakes, sweets and fresh produce to name but a few.

Our website has been designed to be as user-friendly as possible and we offer quick and convenient UK mainland next day delivery. The products we sell can be purchased by business customers or individuals and are available to order in quantities that are realistic for you as we don’t set a minimum order value. Our mission
Although we know we’re not going to change the world overnight, we believe that by offering a wide range of affordable, sustainable replacements for the single use plastic products used by catering businesses, we can make a big difference.
At present there are big variations between the recycling facilities offered by different local authorities. For example, some offer the option to recycle biodegradable products whilst others don’t. We’re working with manufacturers and local authorities to change this by making recycling as simple and straightforward as possible, so it’s much easier for businesses and individuals to make the switch to sustainable products.
To make recycling as easy as possible for our customers we’ve organised our products according to their recycling type: compostable or biodegradable. Compostable products can either be recycled by your local council in an industrial composting facility or in your compost bin at home. Please note home composting takes longer than industrial composting as the process depends on environmental conditions and the system used. Biodegradable food packaging must be recycled in a special industrial composting facility, however this type of recycling process isn’t currently available in all areas of the UK so please check the situation where you live first.
